The Lavender Lounge

This was a project for my Typography class in the Spring of 2024. I was tasked with conceptualizing a restaurant and creating its branding and assets. I chose to design a coffee shop in the San Francisco Bay Area centered around the queer community. I wanted to create a relaxing and peaceful community space where people could come and work, meet up with friends, or quickly grab a nice treat to incorporate a little fun and whimsy into their day.

Ideation Process

I started my design process by sketching out several logo design concepts. At this stage I was still deciding between two different names which were both influencing my design in different directions. Despite choosing Lavender Lounge for the name, I really liked the whimsical retro-vibes of the lettering on my third concept for Cloud 9 Cafe so I ended up refining that lettering to use in my final designs.
